Alphonso Scholarship Fund, Inc. recognizes the proven truth that children that are hungry can not focus in the classroom. This is why we decided from the beginning of developing Alphonso Literacy Summer Camps that we would provide each enrolled child with a nutritious lunch and snacks for the entirety of the program. While this is not a permanent solution to the greater issue of child hunger in rural areas, we are dedicated to making sure each child has what they need to focus on and maximize all of their potentials.
A long-term goal that we have discussed with our partner schools is the implementation of a subsidized lunch program. Funds would be used to assist students previously enrolled in ASF Summer Literacy Camps so that they can afford nutritious meals during the school year.
